The Spoleto Festival USA in Charleston, a port city located in southeastern South Carolina, will be canceled due to the spread of the new coronavirus.

The Festival in Charleston was founded in 1977. This year’s festival was scheduled to take place from May 22 to June 7.

The festival in Charleston is a sister festival of “Festival dei Due Mondi”, founded in Spoleto by Italian composer Gian Carlo Menotti (1911-2007).
