Washington National Opera appointed Evan Rogister (38) as the chief conductor. Philippe Auguin’s successor. The Washington National Opera is located in the Kennedy Center and is called “President’s Opera House”. Between 1996 and 2011, tenor singer Placido Domingo was the director. A general manager is now in place, under which Francesca Zambello is the artistic director.
Rogister majored in trombone and vocal at the Indiana University in the US, then learned the command at the Juilliard School of Music. After that he has gained experience at various theaters in the US and Europe. In the 2017/18 season, he debuted at the New York Phil Metropolitan Opera. He is responsible for the Wagner “Der Ring des Nibelungen” done by the Gothenburg Opera in Sweden from 2018 to 2021.
