Tiroler Symphonieorchester Innsbruck decided to welcome British young conductor Kerem Hasan as chief conductor from the 2019/2020 season. Principal conductor was vacant after Francesco Angelico moved to general manager of the music at the Kassel State Theater in Germany.
Tiroler Symphonieorchester Innsbruck is an orchestra at the Tyrolean State Theater in Innsbruck, Hans Knappertsbusch and others worked on the post-war reconstruction. Nikolaus Harnoncourt later to be a conductor was enrolled in this orchestra as a cellist until 1952.
Hasan was 27 years old born in London in 1992. He studied conducting with the piano at the Royal Conservatory of Scotland and studied at Zurich Art University in Switzerland. After that, he served as an assistant to Bernard Haitink and won the 2017 “Nestle & Salzburg Festival Youth Conductor Competition”. This summer, he has made a debut at the Salzburg festival with a concert conducting the Austrian Radio Symphony Orchestra.
In addition, at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, in June this year he was a sensational success with directing Mahler’s Symphony No. 9 on behalf of Haitink. After that, he was supervised by Cyprus, etc. accompanied overseas tour as a substitute for Danielle Gatti who was suddenly dismissed from the principal conductor.
