Following Israeli and US attacks on Iran, the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition, which was in doubt from its start at the end of April, has now announced that the first and second rounds of the competition will be held at the Academy in Kronberg, a town near Frankfurt, Germany.

Originally, the competition was scheduled to be held from April 28 to May 4. There are no changes to the dates or the number of participants (42). Meanwhile, the final round, featuring the six finalists, will be held in Tel Aviv from May 8 to 15. If the situation becomes tense, such as due to an intensification of attacks from Iran, the final round will be held at a later date.

The competition was established in 1974 in honor of the piano virtuoso Arthur Rubinstein (1887-1982). The first competition was won by Emanuel Ax of the United States. Since then, it has been held every three years in Tel Aviv, and in the last competition in 2023, Kevin Chen of Canada won first place, Giorgi Gigashvili of Georgia came second, and Yukine Kuroki came third.
