MARIÁNSKÉ LÁZNĚ 〓 “Conductor” Radek Baborak has been appointed Principal Conductor of the West Bohemia Symphony Orchestra

International horn player Radek Baborák has been appointed Principal Conductor of the Western Bohemia Symphony Orchestra (Západočeský symfonický orchestr Mariánské Lázně) based in the Czech Republic Mariánské Lázně.

Baborak was born in Pardubice, Czech Republic and is 44 years old. He grew up in a musical family, studied at the Prague Conservatory from 1989 to 1994, and won the Munich International Music Competition in 1994. He also became the principal player of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra that year.

After that, he joined the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in 2000 after working for the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra. He was the principal performer until he left the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in 2009.

After leaving the group, he was active as a freelance solo player. He has earned the trust of world-class conductors and has performed with orchestras around the world.

On the other hand, after his departure, his conducting activities began in earnest. He has expanded his field of activity mainly to Czech orchestras, and has been the principal guest conductor of the Yamagata Symphony Orchestra in Japan since 2018.
