The National Symphony Orchestra, based in Washington DC, the capital of the United States, has extended its contract with Gianandrea Noseda, who serves as its music director.
Noseda is 60 years old and was born in Milan, Italy. He took up the post of music director of the National Symphony Orchestra in the 2017/2018 season, and with this contract renewal, his term of office will be extended until the end of the 2030/2031 season.
In addition to his current position with the National Symphony Orchestra, he is also the Music Director of the Zurich Opera House in Switzerland (2021/2022). He has been the Principal Guest Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra since the 2016/2017 season.
The National Symphony Orchestra is based at the Kennedy Center, which is located in the capital and is known as the “Hall of Culture”. It was founded in 1931, and will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2031, during Noseda’s tenure.
