The Zurich Opera has announced its performance lineup for the 2024/2025 season. The new season is the final season of artistic director Andreas Homoki’s tenure, and will feature four world premieres. New productions include.
There are two new productions for the new season, directed by Homoki himself. One is Richard Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos, which opens the season. The other is Mendelssohn’s Elijah, which concludes the season.
Homoki is 64 years old and was born in Marr, West Germany. He is a Hungarian-German who moved to Zurich after serving as artistic director of the Berlin Komische Oper (2003-2012). During his 13 years at the theater, the theater has produced 123 new operas and 39 ballets.
