LONDON 〓 Thomas Allen will retire from the opera

British baritone singer Thomas Allen has announced that he will retire from the opera. The appearance on Mozart’s《Così fan tutte》, which will be staged on the 16th, will be the final stage of the Royal Opera House. This time, he plays the role of Don Alfonso. He is 74 years old, Born in Seaham. He was knighted in 1999.

Allen studied at the Royal Conservatory of London and made a professional debut in 1969 with the Welsh National Opera, playing the role of Figaro in 《The Barber of Seville》. His debut in the Royal Opera House was in 1971. At this time, he plays the role of Donald of Britten’s 《Billy Bad》.
