Tenor singer Roberto Alagna dropped out again. In the performance of “Don Carlo” of the Paris National Opera, which opened on Friday, Alagna got off at the end of the first act. Don Carlo’s role was sung by Sergio Escobar from Act 2, and he made his Paris debut.
Alagna was born in 1963 and is 56 years old. Last year, he canceled the appearance of Lohengrin, which was supposed to be his Bayreuth Festival debut. In addition, “Samson and Delilah”, which was the opening performance of the Metropolitan Opera in the 2018/2019 season, also withdrew.
“Don Carlo” is a production that was directed by Krzysztof Warlikowski, it has been performing since 2017. Under the direction of Fabio Luigi, there were singers such as Étienne Dupuis (Rodrigo), René Pape (Filippo II) and Anita Rachvelishvili (Princess Eboli).
