WARSAW 〓 Another “Chopin competition” ended

The final round of the new international piano competition “International Chopin Competition on Period Instruments” that was born this year in Warsaw was held on 13th and Tomasz Ritter (Poland, left end of the photo) won first prize (15,000 €). Second prize (10000 €) is Aleksandra Świgut (Poland, second from the left) and Naruhiko Kawaguchi (Japan). The third prize (5000 €) was Krzysztof Książek (Poland).

The competition is sponsored by the Polish National Institute of Chopin, Poland broadcasting, etc. It is unusual worldwide to play old instruments. It is held once every five years, and qualifications are 18 to 35 years old. For the judges of ten people, famous pianists such as Andreas Staier, Nikolai Demidenko, Alexei Lubimov, Ewa Poblocka, Dang Thai Son, etc are aligned.
