Winners of the International Singing Competition for Baroque Opera Pietro Antonio Cesti held during the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music were announced.
The competition was founded in 2010. Italian composer Pietro Antonio Cesti (1623-1669) who was active in the middle of the 17th century served as the kapellmeister of the court of Innsbruck since 1652, a composer related to the city.
It wasa 74 singers from 26 countries participated in the 2018 competition and 12 went to the final selection on August 24.
The main winners are as follows.
1st prize:Marie Lys, soprano (Switzerland)
2nd prize:Cameron Shahbazi, countertenor (Canada)
3rd prize:Kathrin Hottiger, soprano (Switzerland)
Audience Award:Theresa Pilsl, soprano (Germany)
