The Prague National Theatre (Národního divadla) has announced that Robert Kružík will be its next music director. His term will begin in August 2028. He will succeed Robert Žindola, who has held the position since 2022.
Kružík is a 36-year-old from Brno. He has been the principal conductor of the Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra since the 2021/2022 season, and made his debut with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra in 2023.
Subsequently, in 2025, he received the Sir Charles Mackerras Award for his performances of Janáček and other works. He has been the principal conductor of the Brno National Theatre since the 2025/2026 season.
