The Salzburg Festival in Austria has announced its performance lineup for the 2024 Summer Festival. John Eliot Gardiner, who has been away from the stage due to a violent incident, is among the names on the list, and there is talk that he may be returning to the stage.

At the end of August, after a performance of Berlioz’s “The Trojans,” Gardiner issued an apology for a violent incident in which he punched a tenor singer who was appearing in the performance.

According to the festival, Gardiner will lead the Monteverdi Choir and the English Baroque Soloists in next summer’s festival, conducting Handel’s oratorio “Israel in Egypt.
