Brazilian pianist Nelson Freire has broken his right humerus and will be absent for a while. According to reports in Brazil, he was injured on the 30th. During a walk in the Barra da Tijuca district in the west suburb of Rio de Janeiro, he hit a stone and fell down, and broke his humerus, the arm that connects his shoulders and elbows.

Freire is 75 years old, born in Boa Esperanza, Brazil. After undergoing surgery on the 31st, it will take at least two months for the bones to be connected, and it is expected that it will take six months to nearly a year to resume playing. He announced the cancellation of performances this year, including the Brazil tour starting on the 5th.
