Conductor Daniel Barenboim sent a message to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra musicians on strike. Barenboim was music director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra from the 1991/1992 season to the 2005/2006 season. The message is, ‘The Chicago Symphony Orchestra is a cultural jewel of the world. I would like to encourage the Board, the Musicians, the public and the City of Chicago to resist any attempt that will reduce that status. I offer my full support to the Musicians of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.’ The message was read out on the picket line.
