The final selection of the violin Division of “Long-Thibaud-Crespin International Competition” was held on October 10, and Diana Tishchenko (25) of Ukraine won first prize. Mayumi Kanagawa (24) for the second prize and Dmitri Smirnov (24) in Russia for the third prize.

The contest was founded in 1943 by a violinist Jacques Thibaud and a pianist Marguerite Long. From 2011, the vocal section is newly established, and the name of Régine Crespin is added to the current name. Every year, a style in which three Divisions of piano, violin and vocal music alternate. Renaud Capuçon is the chairperson of the competition of this competition. To the judges, Kolja Blacher, Jean-Jacques Kantorow, Akiko Suwanai, Yan Pascal Tortelier, Maxim Vengerov and others are aligned.

Tishchenko was the 3rd prize of the 2nd “Shanghai Isaac Stern International Violin Competition” held in September. Kanagawa is a Japanese American with Japanese parents. Began playing the violin in Japan from 4 years old, then after passing through New York, moving to Los Angeles at the age of 12. Currently he is studying under Kolja Blacher at Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin.
