Silvia Careddu, who is the principal flute of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, will leave the orchestra after the end of the season. In 2017 she joined the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
According to the voting of the wind instruments division deciding whether to make her a regular member, there were many opposition.
Careddu was 41 years old born in 1977, Cagliari, Italy. She studied under Aurel Nicolé and Pierre Eve Alto.
After winning the 1st prize at the 2001 Geneva International Music Competition, she was the principal player of the many orchestras.
The orchestras in which she was the principal player include the following orchestras. Orchestra of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the Swiss Romand Orchestra, the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the Berlin-Konzerthaus Orchestra, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.
