The Netherlands violinist Janine Jansen will be awarded the “Johannes Vermeer Award”. An award ceremony will be held on 29th October. The prize money is 100 thousand euros. “Johannes Vermeer Award” was awarded the Dutch National Award, which was newly established by Ronald Plaskel Education, Science and Culture Minister of the time to honor excellent artistic talent in 2008. The first winner was 2009 Pierre Audi (director). Alex van Warmerdam (film director), Erwin Olaf (photographer) and Iris Van Herpen (fashion designer) are heretofore.
Jansen was born in 1978 in Susto, Utrecht. She studied at the Utrecht Conservatory. After debuting at the age of 14 with the Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra, she has since continued international success. In addition to solo activities, she also actively participated in chamber music, and in 2003 she founded the International Chamber Music Festival in Utrecht and is acting as a music director by herself. In addition to winning the Dutch Music Award in 2003, she has won numerous awards including Edison Classic Audience Award, Echo Award, German Record Critic Award.
