The Bavarian State Opera revealed the outline of next year’s Munich Opera Festival.
According to it, two new productions of the festival next year. One is Richard Strauss’s “Salome” = Krzysztof Warlikowski directing, the other is Handel’s “Agrippina” = Barrie Kosky directing.
On the first day of “Salome” is a performance at the National theater on 27th July, and conductor is Kirill Petrenko, general music director of the opera house.
The singers, Marlis Petersen as the main character Salome, Wolfgang Koch in Jochanaan, Pavol Breslik in Narraboth, Michaela Schuster in Herodias, and Wolfgang Ablinger-Sperrhacke in Herodes.
Meanwhile, the first day of “Agrippina” will be on July 23 at the Prinz Regenten Theater, conductor is Ivor Bolton. Here, a singer named Alice Coote to Agrippina, Gianluca Buratto to Claudius, Franco Fagioli to Nero and Elsa Benoit to Poppaea will appear.
