BAYREUTH 〓 Bayreuth Festival Announces Schedule of 2019

The Bayreuth festival which closed on August 29 announced the schedule of 2019. The new production of the “Der Ring des Nibelungen” is scheduled for 2020, and there is no performance in 2019.

Festival is from 25th July to 28th August. 2019’s New Production is “Tannhäuser” only and it will be opening on 25th. Directed by Tobias Kratzer. Stephen Gould for “Tannhäuser”. Valery Gergiev directing this performance will make a debut at the music festival. Apart from “Tannhäuser”, Parsifal, Lohengrin, Tristan und Isolde. The music festival will close on Tristan und Isolde on 28th.

In 2019, the year is the 150th birthday of the composer’s son Siegfried, and his son Wolfgang’s birth 100 years overlap. Among them, Wolfgang’s birthday is July 24th the day before the opening day, and commemorative events are also planned.

When the 2018 music festival ended, Christian Thielemann had conducted 164 performances from the 2000 festival debut, and he took over the record of Daniel Barenboim, who was conducted 161 performances until then.
