KRASNOYARSK 〓 To establish the Tretyakov International Violin Competition

In 2018, an international violin competition named Viktor Tretyakov, a famous Russian violinist, was founded in his hometown Krasnoyarsk. Tretyakov was 71 years old born in 1946. Learned at the Moscow Conservatory, he won the 1st place at the third “Tchaikovsky International Competition” in 1966 who was 19 years old. While continuing his active worldwide, he has taught young talent at his alma mater. Between 1986 and 1994 he served as the judge chairman of the “Tchaikovsky International Competition” and has served as a jury of the competition of Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition of Belgium, Hanover, Sendai, Helsinki and Zagreb.

Krasnoyarsk is about 4,100 kilometers east of the capital Moscow and is a city in central Siberia that spreads along the banks of the River Enisei. The population is over 900,000, the third largest in Siberia, next to Novosibirsk, Omsk. It is decided that the Winter Universiade will be held in 2019. Competition is targeted for 16 to 30 years old, the first one will be held from 23rd September to 1st October 2018. In addition to Tretyakov, the judges include Vadim Repin, Boris Kushnir, Kurt Sassmannshaus, and Takashi Shimizu of Japan. The top prize money is 900,000 rubles.
