2018/04/20

The Vienna State Opera has announced the lineup of the 2018/2019 season on the 19th. Premiere (new performance presentation) is the following six performances. Two of them are contemporary works. World premiere is “Die Weiden” composed by Austrian composer Johannes Maria Staud (1974 -) from Innsbruck. Vienna premiere is “Orest” composed by German composer Manfred Trojahn (1949 -).

Staud’s “Die Weiden” is a new work on the theme of the refugee crisis in Europe, the so-called “Flüttlingskrise” in Germany. The script is a poet from Dresden Durs Grünbein (1962 -). The opera that the two formed is the third work. On the other hand, Trojahn’s “Orest” consists of six scenes. It is commissioned work by the Netherland opera, premiered in Amsterdam in 2011.
