It has been announced that the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra (formerly the Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra) will welcome young conductor Arsenty Tkachenko as its new principal conductor and music director, succeeding the 92-year-old maestro Vladimir Fedoseyev. This was reported by Russian media.

Tkachenko is 34 years old and was born in Moscow. He studied at the Ippolitov-Ivanov Moscow State Institute of Music and Performing Arts, and in 2012 he won the third Ilya Musin All-Russia Competition for Young Conductors.

He has since served as deputy artistic director and conductor of the Russian National Philharmonic Orchestra, and since June 2024 he has been artistic director and principal conductor of the Novosibirsk Chamber Orchestra.

The Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1930. After Alexander Gauk and Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Fedoseyev has been the principal conductor and music director since 1974. In July 2024, the orchestra welcomed Felix Korobov as principal guest conductor.
