The Macerata Opera Festival in Italy, which concludes on the 9th, has announced the lineup for its 63rd edition in 2027. Scheduled to run from July 17 to August 8, the festival will feature three productions: Puccini’s 《Tosca》, Donizetti’s 《L’elisir d’amore》, and Verdi’s 《La traviata》. The cast has not yet been announced.
Among the three productions, 《Tosca》 is the new one, directed by Tomer Zvulun. Zvulun has served as the General and Artistic Director of The Atlanta Opera since 2013 and, this past June, concluded a four-year cycle of Wagner’s 《Der Ring des Nibelungen》. Ramón Tebar conducts.
Meanwhile, the revival of 《L’elisir d’amore》 features the production directed by Damiano Michieletto, which premiered in 2018, with Corrado Rovaris conducting. 《La traviata》 is also returning in the production directed by Henning Brockhaus, originally unveiled in 1992. A staple of the repertoire—having been performed in 1995, 1996, 1999, 2014, 2021, and 2023—it will be conducted by Lü Jia in 2027.
