Omi Spring 〓 Biwako Hall announced details of the Festival

Biwako Hall announced details of “Omi Spring Biwa Lake Classical Music Festival” to be held at the end of April. According to it, the theme of the 2019 music festival is “God, give peace”. It was adopted from the title of Aria of the fourth act of Verdi “La forza del destino”.

Takashi Yamanaka, Director of the hall, and Artistic Director Ryusuke Numajiri attended the press conference. About the title Numajiri says, “The power of music is enormously large, because it is such an era, if we can play and sing, we can deliver prayers to customers and the world at the venue.” The festival will be held on April 27th and 28th, and 60 concerts will be held from 20 to 80 minutes at Biwako Hall and its surroundings during the festival. About half of them are free.

For casting artists, the singers are Kei Fukui, Hiroko Kouda and so on. Ryoko Sunagawa appears in Poulenc’s opera “Voice” which is performed in concert style. Other artists such as Izumi Tateno, Takashi Harada, Konstantin Lifschitz, Julian Steckel and others appeared. A variety of young people, such as “Aoi Trio” who won first prize at the Internationaler Musikwettbewerb der ARD. Other, the outdoor concert perform at the lakeside in dusk takes up Mozart’s Requiem in 2019 and to be “a bonfire concert”.

Numajiri emphasized again about the music festival “I want to offer full-fledged classical concerts in the crowds like university’s school festival.” For that reason, Numajiri says to arrange stalls on the lake during the festival, sell Japanese sweets and Japanese sake by long-established stores in Shiga prefecture in the main lobby, and want to make the music festival limited menu appear.

It also features a lot of locally-related events such as “a concert from a 0-year old” that parents and babies can enjoy together. At the press conference, part of the schedule already announced was also announced. Three people have changed, Ikuyo Nakamichi (piano), Haruma Sato (cello), Shoko Masuyama (cello).
