The Beethoven-Haus Bonn has announced that it has acquired the autograph score of Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 13.

In addition to a special exhibition from June to August 2025, it will be included in the digital archive along with other items in the collection, and will be accessible online.

According to the announcement, the fourth movement is signed “Alla danza tedesca = German-style dance”. It was owned by a Jewish family in Czechoslovakia from the 1920s, but when they left their homeland in 1938, their collection was confiscated by the Nazi authorities.

After the war, it was owned by the government. In 2022, it was returned to the family’s descendants, who agreed to sell it to the House at the end of 2024.
