VERONA 〓 The 100th anniversary of the festival opens with a new production of “Aida,” featuring Mr. and Mrs. Netrebko.

Italy’s Arena di Verona has announced its performance lineup for 2023, the 100th edition of the celebrated festival, which will run from June 16 to September 9, and will open with a new production of Verdi’s “Aida.

Aida,” which will open on June 16, will be newly directed by Stefano Poda and will feature Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eivazov. The production will be broadcast live worldwide via RAI, the Italian public broadcasting company.

Other operas will include Bizet’s “Carmen,” Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville,” Verdi’s “Rigoletto,” Verdi’s “La Traviata,” Verdi’s “Nabucco,” Puccini’s “Tosca” and Puccini’s “Madame Butterfly.
