Sado will conduct Bruckner’s Symphony No. 4 “Romantic” in October and Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 in January 2023, combining Bruckner with Haydn’s Symphony No. 44 and Mahler with Toru Takemitsu’s “Family Tree “.

The guest conductors for the new season include Ryusuke Numajiri, Charles Dutoit, Kazuyoshi Akiyama, Derrick Inouye, José Soares, Kanako Abe, Hidemi Suzuki, Jean-Christophe Spinosi, and former Music Director Toshiyuki Kamioka.

Dutoit conducted the 50th anniversary special concert this past June, and they will appear together again in June for the new season. The program is a combination of Debussy’s “Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun,” Stravinsky’s ballet suite “The Firebird,” and Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique, a collection of works he is known for.

Also appearing in September and February 2024 is Joe Hisaishi, composer-in-residence and music partner since 2020. He will conduct Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 in September as well as a new work.
