The Royal Danish Opera in the capital Copenhagen has announced that it will welcome young French conductor Marie Jacquot as the vacant chief conductor. Her term is five years from the 2024/2025 season. The chief conductor has been vacant since Alexander Vedernikov died of the new coronavirus in October 2020.
Jacquot is 31 years old born in Paris. After she studied the trombone, she studied conducting at the Austrian National University of Music and Drama in Vienna and the Weimar Franz Liszt University of Music in Germany. Later, she assisted Kirill Petrenko, who was the music director of the Bavarian State Opera.
Since then, she has been the conductor of the Würzburg Municipal Theater in Germany from the 2016/2017 season to the 2018/2019 season. And from the 2019/2020 season at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, she serves as a conductor under the music director Axel Kober.
