OSLO 〓 Edward Gardner becomes the next music director of the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet

The Norwegian National Opera and Ballet in the capital Oslo has announced that it will welcome Edward Gardner as the next music director. Now Gardner is the principal conductor of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra in Norway, and will move to Oslo in 2024, when the contract expires.

Gardner was born in Gloucester, England in 1974 and is 47 years old. He made his conductor debut after studying at the University of Cambridge and the Royal Academy of Music.

After then He has served as Music Director of the English National Opera in London (2006-2015). He has also been Principal Conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra since the 2021/2022 season.
