BOLOGNA 〓 Teatro Comunale Di Bologna Appoints Oksana Lyniv As Music Director

Teatro Comunale di Bologna in Italy has announced that it will welcome Ukrainian conductor Oksana Lyniv as vacant music director. She succeeds Michele Mariotti and her term is from January 2022. It is the first time in history that the major Italian opera houses have a female conductor as a music director.

Lyniv is 43 years old, born in Broady, Ukraine. She was Principal Conductor of the Graz Opera House in Austria from the 2017/2018 to 2019/2020 season. She conducted 《The Flying Dutchman》 at the Bayreuth Festival in 2021, and she became the first female conductor in the history of the festival.
