Riccardo Muti has extended his contract with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the music director. According to the orchestra, the extension is one year and will extend until the end of the 2022/2023 season.

He is 80 years old on July. Muti became the 10th music director after Daniel Barenboim, who retired in the 2005/2006 season in 2010.

At the beginning of 2018 An extension of his contract for two more years, until 2022, has already been announced, but the incidence of the pandemic has forced a new extension of his tenure.
