NEW YORK 〓 Metropolitan Opera cancels its 2020/2021 season

The Metropolitan Opera has announced the cancellation of the 2020/2021 season. Because the convergence status of the new coronavirus cannot be seen. The entire season is said to be canceled for the first time in the theater’s 140-year history. According to General Manager Peter Gelb, the loss from the new coronavirus is $ 154 million.

At the same time as the announcement of the cancellation, the Metropolitan Opera also announced the performance lineup for the 2021/2022 season. The new production is the following 6 works. Terence Blanchard’s work, “Fire Shut Up in My Bones”, which marks the beginning of the season, is the first time the theater feature a work by an African-American composer.
