PRAGUE 〓 The Competition “Operalia 2019” presided over by Placido Domingo has ended

The Competition “Operalia” for young singers presided over by singer Plácido Domingo ended. “Operalia” Founded in 1993 for young people aged 18 to 32 years. It is held in a different city every year, and the 27th of 2019 is held from July 21st to 26th at the National Theater in Prague. The final round was live streamed on medici.tv and Facebook in the style of 12 finalists singing an Aria with orchestra directed by Domingo.

The winners were Guatemalan soprano Adriana Gonzalez (27) and Spanish tenor Xabier Anduaga (24). The Bounty is $30,000. The second prize is the Russian mezzo-soprano Maria Kataeva (32) and the Korean baritone Gihoon Kim (27). Each person receives $20,000. The third prize is $10,000, the Swedish soprano Christina Nilsson (29) and the German American Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen (25).
