VIENNA 〓 Vienna Philharmonic have named Andris Nelsons

The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra announced next conductor of “New Year’s Concert” as Andris Nelsons. Nelsons was 40 years old born in Riga, capital of Latvia in 1978. From the Principal trumpet player of the Latvian State Opera Orchestra to the conductor, studied conducting from Alexander Titov, Neeme Järvi, Jorma Panula and Mariss Jansons. He has previously served as Principal Conductor of the Latvian State Opera (2003-2007), Music Director of Birmingham City Symphony Orchestra (2008-2015). Currently he is a music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra (2014-), and a principal conductor of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra (2017-).
