Houston Grand Opera in the United States decided to invite Korean-born female conductor EunSun Kim to Principal guest conductor. Kim was born in Seoul in 1980, studied at Yonsei University, Stuttgart Music College and won the 2008 “Jesús López Cobos International Opera Conductor Competition”. With that, she became an assistant conductor of Lopez Cobos in Teatro Real in Madrid, and she began his career as an opera conductor in earnest. Currently she is continuing to guest perform at the OperaHouse in Europe and the United States.

Houston Grand Opera is the fifth largest opera company in the United States. Home ground ‘Wortham Theater Center’ is flooded at the hurricane ‘Hervey’ in late August 2017, and is currently performing with other theaters. Reopening is scheduled for September 26. Verdi “Aida” was performed as a memorial performance at the theater opening 30 years ago. On 26th, Placido Domingo, who appeared on that “Aida”, is going to celebrate the reopening after a long time by performing a gala concert.
