The Colorado Springs Philharmonic has announced that French conductor Chloé Dufresne will become its new music director, effective for the 2025/2026 season. The position has been vacant for two years since the departure of Josep Caballé-Domènech, who served as music director for 12 years.
Dufrene is a 34-year-old native of Montpellier. She studied at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland, and won the Audience Award and Orchestra Award at the 2021 Besançon International Conducting Competition.
She gained attention for conducting the French National Orchestra in a promotional video for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Additionally, she has been serving as the artistic director of the “Orchestra Ostinato” based in Paris since the 2023/2024 season.
