The confusion caused by the highly infectious Omicron strain is also here.

On February 2nd at the Vienna State Opera, 19 members of the opera choir scheduled to appear in Britten’s “Peter Grimes” got a positive reaction, and the performance was in danger of being canceled. Eventually, the Arnold Schoenberg Choir rescued for the performance. In the end, the Arnold Schoenberg Choir rushed to make the performance a success.

The State Opera’s “Peter Grimes” was a hot topic this time with the gorgeous co-starring of Jonas Kaufmann, Bryn Terfel and Lise Davidsen.

After the performance on the 2nd, an award ceremony was held for conductors Simone Young, Kaufman and Tafel. Young was awarded the title of “Honorary Member” and Kaufmann and Tafel were awarded the title of Austrian “Kammersänger”.

Young’s debut at her State Opera was in 1993. She was the first female conductor to stand on the podium of the State Opera. She has since conducted 196 performances.

Meanwhile, Kaufmann made his debut in 2006, singing Tamino from Mozart’s “The Magic Flute”. He has sung various roles 38 times so far. In addition, Tafel first appeared in 1993. She has appeared 72 times since then in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” and “Peter Grimes”.
