The Edinburgh Internatioanl Festival in the UK has announced a lineup of performances. This year’s session is from August 7th to 29th. It opens with a concert by the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Dalia Stasevska. The opera will feature Richard Strauss’s “Ariadne auf Naxos” and Verdi’s “Falstaff”.
“Ariadne auf Naxos” is directed by Louisa Muller and conducted by Andrew Davis, with Dorothea Röschmann singing Ariadne. On the other hand, “Falstaff” is conducted by Stuart Stratford and directed by David McVicar. Roland Wood plays Falstaff.
The guest orchestra is also diverse, including the London Symphony Orchestra led by Simon Rattle. There is also a concert where Valery Gergiev will conduct the Royal Scottish Orchestra. In addition, Kazushi Ono will appear on the podium of the closing concert by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
