Andris Nelsons, who will return to the Bayreuth’ Wagner Festival for the first time in five years and conduct two concerts to conclude the Festival, will lead the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra to perform at the Riga Jurmala Festival in his native Latvia. Concerts will be held at the National Opera on September 3rd and 5th.
The Riga Jurmala Festival was founded in 2019 and is held every summer in the capitals Riga and Jurmala. This year, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, led by Riccardo Muti, was to be a guest performer. However, it was decided to cancel at the Corona Pandemic. Therefore, the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra will appear as a substitute.
Nelsons will be conducting two concerts at the Bayreuth Festival and will feature music from “Parsifal”, “Lohengrin”, “Valkyrie” and “Twilight of the Gods”. He brings the program to Riga as it is. The singers will also accompany Nelsons.
