The Paris Opera has announced that it will perform Wagner’s “The Ring of the Nibelung” cycle in a concert Version. The first through performance will be performed at the Bastille Opera from November 23, and the second will be performed at the Radio France Auditorium from December 2.
The performance schedule of the Paris Opera has been shattered since the end of last year due to a staff strike and the subsequent spread of the new coronavirus infection. The planned new production of “The Ring of the Nibelung” directed by Calixto Bieito has also been cancelled. This performance was planned as an alternative.
The performance will be conducted by Philippe Jordan, who has been a music director since 2009. Jonas Kaufmann will be appointed as Siegmund, Iain Paterson will be appointed as Votan, Andreas Schager will be appointed as Siegfried, Ekaterina Gubanova will be appointed as Fricka, Martina Serafin and Ricarda Merbeth will be appointed as Brünnhilde.
