The New York Philharmonic has announced that it will cancel the remainder of its 2020/2021 season. This is the first time in the history of an orchestra for 178 years that the entire season has been completely canceled.

The decision was made clear in an online statement by President and CEO Deborah Borda. The decision was made in response to the spread of the new coronavirus infection.

The statement said that the performance lineup for the 2021/2022 season will be announced in the spring of 2021.
