NEW YORK 〓 Metropolitan Opera has announced a performance lineup for the 2020/2021 season

Metropolitan Opera (MET) has announced a performance lineup for the 2020/2021 season. Five new productions and 17 revivals. The opening performance is a new production “Aida” starring Anna Netrebko. The new production will be directed by Michael Mayer, who also worked on “La traviata”, conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

The lineup also includes Prokofiev’s “The Fiery Angel”, the premiere of the theater. Also, a new “The Magic Flute” will begin on New Year’s Eve. It is conducted by Gustavo Dudamel and directed by British actor Simon McBurney.

“Don Giovanni” and “Dead Man Walking” are directed by Ivo Van Hove. “Dead Man Walking” is a two-act opera with a prologue based on the same name nonfiction. Famous for being filmed in 1995. It was premiered in 2000 at the San Francisco Opera in the direction of Joe Mantello. At the premiere, Susan Graham, who played the main character, will play the role of mother this time, and Joyce Donard will play the main character.
