The international competition “NEUE STIMMEN” for young singers, held in Gutersloh, Germany, ended on the 27th. The female voice category was won by Russian Soprano Anna El-Khashem (23), and the male voice category was won by Chinese tenor Zhang Long (28). Each was awarded a prize of € 15,000. In addition, Ukrainian bass baritone Vladislav Buyalskiy (21) was awarded the “Brian Dicky Young Singers Award”. The prize money is 5,000 euros.
The competition “NEUE STIMMEN” is a bi-annual competition since 1987 by the Bertelsmann Foundation based in the German media group. The first winner was Natalie Stutzmann. To date, singers such as Vesselina Kasarova, Franco Fagioli and Marina Rebeka have fluttered from the competition. From 2015, the winners will be given by gender.
After studying at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, El-Khashem became a member of the Bavarian Opera House opera studio. She has been active as a singer for the Hessen State Theater Wiesbaden since the 2019/2020 season.
Meanwhile, Zhanglong has the stage name of “Long Long”. After studying at the Shanghai Conservatory and Peking University Opera Institute, he became a member of the Bavarian Opera House opera studio. Finalist of the 2018 Operaria. Has been active as a singer at Hanover State Opera since the 2019/2020 season.
