VIENNA 〓 The title of the Austrian court singer was presented to Rene Papé

A German bass singer, René Pape, was awarded the title of Austria “Court Singer = Kammersänger” from the Vienna State Opera on 18th. “Court singer” is a title given to a singer who has long been active in Austrian theater, combining popularity and ability, pension is also paid. The debut of the Vienna State Opera in Papé was 1991, at this time it is singing the Sprecher of “Magic Flute”. Since then he has appeared in 58 performances with 10 works. He also appeared in the performance of “Magic Flute” on 18th and a ceremony was held after the performance.

Papé was born in 1964 in Dresden. After being a member of the famous “Dresdner Kreuzchor = Holy Cross Chorus”, he was active as a singer exclusively for the Berlin State Opera since 1988 while he was in the Dresden Conservatory. After unification of Germany, it pulled out from the Western Theaters, and in 1991, in addition to Vienna, first appeared at the Salzburg Festival with the role of Sarastro of “Magic Flute”. In 1994, he made his debut at the Bayreuth Festival with the role of Fasolt of “Das Rheingold”, and he continues to be active in the front line after that.
