In order to honor the mezzo-soprano that Spain came out, the concert hall at San Lorenzo de El Escorial was renamed as “Teresa Berganza Auditorium” on 27th. Request of Madrid city council. San Lorenzo de El Escorial is a city that extends 50 km from Madrid city, on the slope of Mount Abantos. It is one of Spain’s leading singers alongside Plácido Domingo, José Carreras, Montserrat Caballé and others. In 1992 she was singing at the opening ceremony of the Sevilla World Exposition, the Barcelona Olympic Games, and in 1994 it was the first woman to be elected to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Spain.
