Bayreuth Festival 〓 Roberto Alagna cancels “Lohengrin”

2018/07/02

The Bayreuth festival announced on June 30 that Roberto Alagna who was scheduled to appear in “Lohengrin” will cancel the appearance. Replacement has not been announced yet. For Alagna, in addition to challenging the leading role of Wagner for the first time, it was an important performance of debut with Bayreuth, the “Holy place” for Wagnerian. It was said that costume matching had already ended. He was also full of enthusiasm and he was witnessing the practice at the Champs Elysees Theater in Paris between the performances.

At the Bayreuth Festival in 2018 and 2019, there is no running performance of 4 works of Wagner “Der Ring des Nibelungen”, only “Die Walküre” is performed. Also, the only premier (new Production) in 2018 was “Lohengrin” by Yuvar Sharon’s production (Conductor is Christian Thielemann). In addition, there was a rumor that Anna Netrebko would sing Elsa and debut into Bayreuth, attracting a lot of topics (actually Anja Harteros Was appointed).
