BERLIN 〓 Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra appointed China’s Yun Zeng to the principal horn player

The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra appointed China’s Yun Zeng to the vacant position of principal horn player. Zeng has been the principal horn player of the Berlin State Opera Orchestra since October 2022.

Zeng was born in Chengdu, China in 1999 and is 24 years old. He learned to play the horn from the age of six under the tutelage of his father, the principal horn player of the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra, and studied at the Central Academy of Music in Beijing and then in Geneva with Bruno Schneider. After returning to China, he studied at the Graduate School of the Central Conservatory of Music.

He then became the first Chinese to win the first prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2019 and the second prize at the Munich International Music Competition in 2021.
