The London Philharmonic Orchestra has announced the appointment of 20-year-old Annemarie Federle as principal horn player.
Federle is a Cambridge native who began playing the horn at the age of seven, studied music, mathematics, and science at Hills Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge, and won the brass category final of the BBC Young Musician in 2020, when she was 17.
She then went on to the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she has been principal of the London-based Aurora Orchestra since last 2022.
The Aurora Orchestra was founded in 2005 by a group of London students and is known for regularly performing symphonic works in a stenographic, standing style.
