Violinist Midori Goto was selected for the 2020 “Brahms Award”. The award is awarded by the Brahms Society of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. For artists who have contributed fascinating works to preserve Brahms’ artistic heritage. The award ceremony will be held on May 3, 2020 in Vesselburen. Goto will perform with the accompaniment of piano Özgür Aydin.

The award was founded in 1988. The first winners were the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and Leonard Bernstein. Past winners include baritone singer Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, clarinetist Sabine Meyer, St. Thomas choir and cellist Peter Wisperway. The prize money is 10,000 euros.
